LOVE LETTER TO EC: THANKS FOR THE COMPETENCE DISPLAY IN THE COMPILATION OF THE NEW VOTERS REGISTER

Dear Jean, I must commend you gravely for the good job done in the compilation of the new voters register amidst all the naysayers, you have displayed utter competence and clinical delivery although there were a few foreseeable hitches. From day 1 to day 36 across all compilation centers saw a surgical precision in the covid 19 protocols observations and due deligence being adopted by the electoral officers. Many were the stories and reportage that trickled in, but thanks to social media and diverse angles the main import of the registeration and target was attained. Issues recorded mainly involved 1. Ghana card brouhaha 2. Fear of Covid 19 3. Apathy amidst others Hopefully going forward, the process can further be developed and fine-tuned to curtail all these elements. Fortunately or unfortunately the political goggles that sought to spread fear was equally leveled and the process was seen through. From the said target of 15 million. The total registered was in the region of 16 million. Now this is a bit delicate and difficult to phantom as the bases for the compilation was a bloated register, but the target to “unbloat” it has also exceeded. Typical case of test of character. THE FUTURE WOES: TO BE OR NOT TO BE IS IN YOUR HANDS. I trust you to make a very well informed decision. Kudos to all electoral staff Kudos to all security personnel Kudos to party officials who assisted the process Kudos to the you “Madam Jean” Thankfully the said target to have a clean and new voters register has been reached although the number of *challenged cases* is still alarming. An observed disaffection in quality of voter identity card was heavily topical in the initial stages but as forgiving of an average Ghanaian, the explanation was accepted. However, the quality of the card I think could have been increased and more security features could have been added as well. Kindly feel free to engage us at Ghana Youth Movement for concensus building and finding more diverse approaches.
