Why Etoile du Sahel must fall in both legs

The last time Etoile visited the Baba Yara sports stadium, it turned out to be ugly scenes as Beninoir referee had to resort to a red cross gear before he could leave the stadium.

2008 caf confederations cup game between Asante Kotoko and Etoile du Sahel triggered the bad side of Kumasi fans as one of the most respected caf referees from neighboring country Benin had to use the red cross regalia to outwit irate fans of Kotoko who had laid siege at the exit of the Baba Yara stadium.

Yet the fans were not fooled as they identified the referees in the Red Cross bus and chased them into a nearby restaurant before gun-wielding military personnel intervened to whisk match officials to safety.

Kotoko were drawn in Group B with Etoile Sahel , Al-Merrikh of Sudan, JS Kabylie

It was Kotoko's last home game and Kotoko needed all 3 points before they travel to Sudan to fight for a place in the final but the road turned out to be rough for Kotoko as they drew 2-2 with Etoile, making their qualification very difficult.

Fans channeled their anger towards referee coffi Codjia that he was too soft on the Tunisian who resorted to theatrics to get the match in their favour.

The result all but ended Kotoko's chance of reaching the final of the competition as the away draw seems to have bolstered Etoile's chances of advancing to the final and also ending Kotoko's dream with only one group match left.

This is just the first leg but The Porcupine Warriors need to have a convincing win in Kumasi to have any dream of advancing to the group stages of the competition.

These North African teams always have their ways of making sure they do their utmost best at home and if Kotoko faulter in this weekends game, it'll definitely be a daunting task in the 2nd leg.

Etoile must fall!!!!!!!
