How to develop lesser known sports in Ghana.
The only way to develop the lesser known sports in this country is to introduce them at the basic levels. As for the old men, you should forget us, you can't teach an old dog a new trick.
The introduction of these sports in the basic levels will automatically divide the pupils into two groups, players on one side and supporters on another side. Each pupil will develop an interest in one if not all the sports, either as a player or as a supporter.
The major source of funding for sporting activities is proceeds from gate fees.
No one will waste his or her time to go and Watch a game he has no idea of. Imagine giving me a free ticket to go and watch a cricket match. I don't know anything about cricket, and so won't waste my time on that. But you can't blame me, if it was introduced to me at an early stage, I would have loved to be involved either as a player or a spectator.
The introduction of these games at the basic school level will prepare the grounds for the commercialization of the games in the future. Good players at the basic level will grow into professional players, spectators at the basic level will grow to be supporters of professional clubs who will be willing to go to the stadium to pay and watch matches they can relate.
We can create a whole lot of employment from sports.
